Benjamin Russell serves as the Student Rabbi and Spiritual Leader of Beth Israel Congregation. A lifelong Mississippian, Ben has been part of the Beth Israel community since 2010 and has served as Cantorial Soloist since 2012.

With a background in both music and psychology, Ben brings a unique blend of heart, harmony, and human understanding to his work on the bimah and beyond. He is currently pursuing rabbinic ordination through ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal, where he continues to deepen his study of Jewish theology, philosophy, and spiritual leadership.

When not at the synagogue or in class, Ben can often be found outdoors, reading, or spending time with his husband, Joey, and their beloved dog, Bob, and cat, Squeaker.
