Moving to Jackson?

Jackson, Mississippi, known as the City with Soul, is a vibrant and welcoming place to call home. With a rich history, thriving arts scene, and a spirit of community, Jackson offers something for everyone.

Our city is a hub for history and culture. The award-winning Two Mississippi Museums—home to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, the only state-sponsored civil rights museum in the country—stand alongside treasures like the Mississippi Museum of Art, Thalia Mara Hall, and the newly acquired Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home, now part of the National Park Service. Together, these institutions tell the powerful story of Mississippi’s past while pointing toward a bright future.

Neighborhoods across the city are full of life and local flavor. From dining and shopping at the District at Eastover and Highland Village, to gatherings in Fondren and Belhaven Town Center, each area has its own personality and charm. Families can explore LeFleur’s Bluff, where four museums—including the Mississippi Children’s Museum, ranked among the top in the nation—sit side by side with outdoor trails, a playground, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.

Jackson also knows how to celebrate. Each spring, thousands turn out for Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade, one of the largest in the country, and every summer the Mississippi Book Festival brings readers, writers, and national attention to our capital city.

And when wanderlust calls, you’re just three hours from New Orleans, Memphis, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Jackson is a city of resilience, creativity, and heart—and we’re proud to make it our home.

Jackson can be a community of transplants, members coming in and out for school, fellowships or jobs. One of our congregants Lauren Rhoades writes an insightful Substack titled Rooted Magazine with interviews about people living in and away from MIssissippi. Their insight into what makes Mississippi home is a wonderful way to understand what life may be like!
