Front of TempleIn 1860, barely a dozen families of German Jewish background organized the community, which became Beth Israel Congregation. In 1875, the Congregation joined the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.

Today our community consists of about 190 families, and it is the only Jewish congregation in Jackson, MS. Our synagogue is located in a residential neighborhood of North-East Jackson.
